Realization...

I had no idea the Autumn Rose swatch would consume so much time. After knitting only 10 rows, I realize that I don't like my colors. Back to the needles and my mind to create something that I will love wearing.

Eric's Sweater is done!!!!

Yup...It's done..I'm 99.8% happy with the way it came out. What I didn't like is the neck is slightly stretched out when he wears it (please notice the lack of shirt, yuck. He did put on a turtleneck to watch the Steelers game.

It's more beautiful in real life than a photo.

So, now I'm working on my mom's sweater. She did about 8 inches and said she couldn't knit with double pointed needles. So, now, I'm completing the sweater for her. It's from the Winter 07/Spring 08 Knitscene magazine. It's a pretty sweater that has a yoke which I really like doing since you really don't have to do a lot of seaming. It's just boring knitting. I'm also doing the Unoriginal Hat. Love the simplicity of the pattern and I always get complements where I go when the kids wear their unoriginal hats (pattern by yarn Harlot).

Which brings me up to my latest project - the Autumn Rose Pullover (designed by Eunny Jang)! Now, my friend Alicia finished is sweater and it is absolutely beautiful on her. It's knitted in the round with 11 different colors. Then you add the sleeves and keep on knitting. My favorite part is the steeking part of it. This is where you cut the knitting (sounds scary, but I'm excited about it) and do the front drop neck line.

I brought my yarn many moons ago from Knitpicks' Palette sampler collection. I swatched about 5 rows of the pattern and realized it would be a pretty ugly sweater if I kept going. It's back to the old drawing board with color selections. I only have 1 ball of each of the Palette sampler.

This gives you some idea of the choices I have for the sweater. I'm going along with the browns and getting some reds in there.

I will swatch probably on Sunday. I'm looking forward to making this incredible sweater.

Sweater Stats!

okay...so the Moss Diamond in Eric's sweater is about 40 rows of knitting!!! Wow! So, the honeycomb pattern takes 5 repeats to make up for the diamond. I've gone through 2 skeins of yarn and I'm hoping to get this done before Eric's B'day...I think I mentioned that before.

Hope to upload some pictures maybe tomorrow or Thursday!

Eric's Sweater...it's a go...

Please excuse the lack of blogging that I haven't been doing. Life is busy in this house and if you have any questions, email me privately and you can get all the lovely details.

However, I'm so excited to be back and to show you the progress of Eric's Cable Sweater. After many calculations....I figured out the pattern and I'm pleased to show you the sweater.

The moss diamond is about a 37 row repeat pattern. At times, I look at it and think it's way too big. However, I'm dealing with a timeline of October 12 and this project needs to get off the needles so I can have some "jane" knitting.

That won't happen quite yet as my mom gave me a sweater of hers to complete. What's up with that? My mom is a competent knitter; however, she doesn't like double point needles and that's what the pattern says to do next. Hence, I'm going to complete her sweater for her. It's absolutely beautiful...if I must say so. It's angora and so soft and fuzzy! It will look wonderful on her. I wonder what the deadline on this sweater is.

All I know is Eric's sweater is a priority and that's final!!!!

Did I mention starting the Master's program, too. Maybe that will begin in 2010!!! Now, that's scary thinking that I'm going into another decade.

Toothpicks work!!!

Okay, I guess you're wondering if I can do a cable without an error. Yes, I can!!! But, in case you do have a cable error -- toothpicks work well.

Onward to more cable knitting...
